Callie & Canaan Boho Vermont Wedding | Vermont Bride Magazine

When photographer Lauren Alisse found out her best friend Callie was getting married she knew exactly how she wanted to photograph the boho-beauty. Then the bride asked her to be her Maid-of-honor! Despite it sounding impossible, she pulled out being both the MOH and the photographer for the wedding (thanks to a second-shooter friend). The entire wedding was a group effort of friends and family coming together to make it all happen. A bridesmaid hand crafted the centerpieces out of dried flowers and drift wood that the groom's mother collected. She also made decorations out of wooden circles and yarn - perfect for a bohemian feel! Callie, the bride, purchased fabric from a local shop in Burlington and attached them to mason jars with the help of her mother and another bridesmaid. Lauren also made the bridesmaid's bouquets out of babys breath, and Callie's mom made a handkerchief for her to carry down the aisle as her "something new".

Meghann & James Real Vermont Love Story | Jay Peak Resort | Jay Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Meghann and James are both passionate skiers, James even proposed during a backcountry skiing adventure, and have been to Jay Peak Resort many times. Once they learned that Jay Peak also hosted weddings they jumped at the chance to exchange vows with the gorgeous mountain views in the background. The day was beautifully sunny and clear, allowing them to take pictures on the mountain summit. The ceremony took place at the barn on property, which was beautifully decorated with bouquets of baby's breath in sap buckets. Meghann and James hand made the signs for the tables with names of trails at Jay Peak and they continued the ski theme with a pair of vintage skis that Meghann sanded down for their guests to sign in lieu of a guest book. The skis now hang in their home as a constant reminder of the day.

Katherine & Neil | Real Vermont Love Story | Basin Harbor Club | Vergennes Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Katherine and Neil first met during a dinner in Beijing, as part of a study abroad program. At dinner with friends, Katherine poured Neil some tea in a gesture of customary manners, but Neil became convinced she was flirting with him. The rest is history. Neil’s original plan for proposing included a hike up Mount Mansfield, but Katherine persuaded him it was too far from Brooklyn for a weekend getaway. He scrambled for another plan, ending up on Breakneck Ridge near Beacon, New York. Katherine is from Vermont and her family has been visiting the Basin Harbor Club for almost 100 years. They loved the idea of choosing a location steeped in family history and somewhere they could plan an entire weekend together with their loved ones, swimming, playing games, and catching up.

Jess & Chris | Real Vermont Love Story | The Skinner Barn | Waitsfield Vermont | Vermont Bride Magazine

Jess and Chris first met at Saint Michael's College, in Colchester, Vermont, and began dating soon after graduation. They fell in love in Burlington, and Jess grew up in Vermont, so the state had special meaning to them both. Even though they moved out of state they go back to Vermont every chance they get to play outside, eat, drink, and be with friends and family. The special meaning, and natural beauty of the Green Mountain State, made it an obvious choice for the location of their wedding.

Jess and Chris are relaxed and laid back so their celebration was the same. The cocktail hour was held outside on the lawn, compete with lawn games like stilts, corn hole, ladder ball, and bocce. An array of local cured meats and cheese from Vermont, and fresh shucked oysters from Massachusetts (where the couple now reside) were on hand as well. Having good food, drinks, and most importantly fun was the focus of the day.
