It might be feeling like winter is never going to be over, but we can't help ourselves in sharing this gorgeous October wedding at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield. With charming details like leaf adorned place cards on a chickenwire frame, cozy blankets for chilly guests, a caramel apple and cupcake display, and monogrammed table runners - Brittany and Daniel's wedding day embraced everything wonderful about fall in Vermont. Read on for more pictures and to hear what Brittany had to say about their vision:

How and where did you meet? Daniel and I met in elementary school, and became friends after attending the same high school. We were both taking a class called “New England Landscapes” that involved taking lots of hiking, canoeing, and camping adventures. We got to spend a lot of time together and before long we were a couple; going to the drive in movies and hanging out in his family pool. We separated briefly when we both went to different colleges, but relied on each other’s friendship and soon realized we were supposed to be together. We reconnected, and the rest is history!

Why did you choose Vermont for your wedding? Choosing Vermont for our wedding was a no brainer. We both grew up in Vermont, fell in love in Vermont, and have a ton of fantastic memories here together. We wanted our wedding to reflect our personalities and share our love of the Green Mountain State with all of our friends and family, some of whom were traveling long distances to be there.

How did you choose your venue? Daniel and I had talked a lot about our vision for our wedding even before we were engaged. We knew we wanted it to feel like Vermont and to embrace the things that make Vermont so special. We started looking at a lot of venues, particularly rustic barns for the reception. We found Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, Vermont and absolutely fell in love. We loved the idea of having the whole property for the weekend so we could have a bonfire the night before and have our friends and family close by. After seeing the restored brown barn and the outdoor ceremony sight, we knew we had to have our wedding there. (And it came with it’s own photo booth!)

How did your wedding theme reflect your relationship as a couple? We chose to have our wedding in the fall, because there is NOTHING better then fall in Vermont. It has always been our favorite season, and we have lots of early memories driving around together looking at the changing leaves. We wanted our wedding to have that cozy, fall feel, and tried to weave the rustic fall theme throughout the entire day. From our burlap welcome bags with hot cocoa, the hot apple cider at cocktail hour, the blankets in a basket at the reception, the maple syrup and caramel apple favors, and every detail in between, we wanted it to feel cozy and welcoming and feel like we did a good job. Also, the leaves couldn’t have been more brilliant that day and we will never forget the gorgeous backdrop Vermont offered us. It was incredible for us to be able to share all that beauty and charm with all of the people we love most.

What song did you have your first dance to? We had our first dance to “Crazy Love” by Audra Mae.

What advice would you give other couples planning their wedding day? I would tell other couples planning their wedding, not to get hung up on what other people do for their weddings. Weddings are always a beautiful occasion, and what will make your wedding special is keeping it unique to you as a couple. I was guilty of getting overwhelmed with pinterest and SO many ideas, but I tried to make sure not to lose our personality and stay true to our vision of the perfect day (even if someone else’s idea of a perfect wedding is different.) Looking through Vermont Bride Magazines and Blogs was so helpful, and it shows you that every wedding is unique and a representation of the couple being married. There is no right or wrong way to have a beautiful wedding!  Enjoy the planning process and remember it’s supposed to be fun! Don’t get too hung up on perfection.
