Have Fun With Your Engagement Photos

Have Fun With Engagement Photos | Vermontbridemagazine.comphoto by Polis Photography

It seems that, these days, engagement photos have become a must-have for engaged couples. Especially with the advent of the Save The Date and the popularity of social media, more and more couples are making it a priority to document their early days of betrothed bliss. Gone are the days of your standard studio sitting, with pull down, shade backdrops and hand-over-hand poses. The modern bride and groom are taking their engagement photo sessions to unique settings and putting their own personal flair into them.

We have gathered some of our favorite photo ideas to share with you to get your creative juices flowing! Take a cue from these couples and think outside of the box when planning your engagement photo settings, making sure to include a good dose of your own personalities in the process.

A relaxing frolic in an apple orchard is fitting for a couple planning their fall wedding. The photos within a photo, utilizing iconic poloroids and fun arrangements of apples into their wedding date, are especially creative and playful. We can see how the theme of apples could play throughout the rest of this couple's wedding design and decor. This could be equally fun with blueberries, acorns, or pumpkins. Don't be afraid to play with whatever is around you - any fruit, flower, or vegetable could become the perfect prop. Then you can continue the common theme throughout with your invitations, signage, bouquet, centerpieces, or even favors!

We're thinking this couple likes to play games and are really in tune with their inner child! Scrabble squares are customized to spell out their special message, perfect for using on their Save The Date cards or in an engagement announcement. The sidewalk chalk evokes a sense of innocence and pure mirth echoed from a simpler time of childhood, a cheerful sign marking the beginning of their path as a married couple. They are clearly looking to have some fun and we're betting their wedding was full of joyful amusement and merrymaking.

Having a theme for your engagement session, doing something that you love to do together, is a great way to document not only your engagement but an activity that means something to you both personally. This couple wanted a cozy cooking theme and found a special spot with a gourmet kitchen. Cooking for each other, giving the gift of nourishment, is such an intimate and loving way that we care for our loved ones. What better way to document a commitment to each other than doing what you enjoy together. Clearly they are most comfortable donning aprons, standing behind the stove, and stirring up something tasty to share, and that love for cooking and for each other comes through in their photos.

There are so many wondeful outdoor options in Vermont to utilize for photos. From mountains, to farms, to lakes, and rivers - natural beauty is abundant. This couple chose to make a splash, quite literally, with their engagement photo shoot. We particularly love the dramatic image of the groom rising out of the rapids to greet his bride-to-be! It's reminiscent of the trash-the-dress photos that have become so popular, just before the wedding. This couple clearly has a love of nature and isn't afraid of getting messy to make some impressive photos.

Whatever you choose to do for your engagement photos, just remember that it is a time to chronicle this special moment in your lives where you are just beginning your journey into wedded bliss. Keep it personal, be yourselves and just have fun with it.
